报告摘要:In recent years, 2D materials stacked via van der Waals (vdW) interactions have attracted much attention in condensed matter physics. Due to the weak vdW interactions, the electronic wavefunctions could exhibit layer-resolved distribution characteristics. The hybridization occurs between electronic wavefunctions across different layers, enabling the layer degree of freedom to serve as a new quantum number for characterizing electronic states in vdW layered materials. The layer pseudospin leads to rich layer-coupled physical phenomena, which demonstrates spatial resolvability and allows independent characterization and manipulation of physical properties in individual monolayer units. This opens a new pathway for designing quantum devices and development of quantum layertronics. In this talk, we will introduce the layer-coupled topological phases in vdW layered magnets, such as the quantum layer anomalous Hall effect and quantum layer spin Hall effect. Layer-coupled topological phases can be considered as a new classification of topological phases that exhibit spatially resolved topological properties, offering new avenues for future quantum device applications.
报告人介绍:孔祥儒,东北大学副教授。2022年底以副教授身份入职东北大学,2019-2022年在美国橡树岭国家实验室从事博士后研究,之前在北京大学国际量子材料科学中心获得博士学位,山东大学物理学院获得学士和硕士学位。主要从事量子材料相关的研究工作,通过第一性原理计算结合有效模型方法,研究量子材料的磁性、电子、拓扑、超导和输运等物理性质,尤其在拓扑材料领域具有丰富的研究经验,同时通过周期性光场对量子材料物性进行调控研究。
