Title: Two-Dimensional Transition Metal Dichalcogenides with Tailored Properties

Abstract: Two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), Janus transition metal dichalcogenides (JTMDCs) and their heterostructures have recently attracted much interest due to their exotic and highly tunable electronic properties. In this talk, I will share our recent studies on structural, vibrational, electronic and optical properties of these materials. First principles calculations reveal that these systems are stable under a wide range of strains from compression to tension.

Bibliography: Dr. Amin is currently working as an Associate Professor and Chair at the Department of Physics, Abbottabad University of Science & Technology, Pakistan. He has done Mphil in the Center of Excellence in Solid State Physics, University of the Punjab, in the field of computational condense matter physics, PhD in Physics from Hazara University, and Post-doctoral fellowship from KAUST, Saudi Arabai. He has also received Research Productivity Award from the Pakistan Council for Science and Technology, for the one of the best researchers in 2013-2014. He has trained 5 PhD students, 70 Mphil students, published about 140 articles with total impact points of ~450.
