报告人简介:Dr. Hui Pan is an associate professor in the Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering and Head of Department of Physics and Chemistry in the Faculty of Science and technology at the University of Macau. He got his PhD degree in Physics from the National University of Singapore in 2006. From 2008 to 2013, he had worked at National University of Singapore as Research Fellow, Oak Ridge National Laboratory (USA) as Postdoctoral Fellow, and Institute of High Performance Computing (Singapore) as Senior Scientist. He joined the University of Macau as an assistant professor in 2013. In his research, a combined computational and experimental method is used to design novel nanomaterials for applications in energy conversion and storage (such as solar cells, water-splitting, Li batteries, supercapacitors, hydrogen storage, and fuel cells), electronic devices, spintronics, and quantum devices. He has published more than 130 papers in international peer-reviewed journals. The total citation is more than 6500. Additionally, he is the author of 5 book chapters, and the inventor of 4 USA and 3 China patents. His present h-index is 40.

报告摘要:In this talk, I will present our work on the design of 2D materials for various applications. (1) We proposed that tunable magnetic states can be achieved by strain engineering and hydrogenation. (2) A new family of MXenes was designed for the hydrogen production. (3) Various 2D pentagonal monolayers were designed for electrolysis and electronics. (4) Janus 2D materials were designed for photocatalysis and piezoelectronics. (5) We proposed a new strategy to design photocatalysts for water splitting by using electrocatalyst as co-catalyst.
